Singer, writer and experienced real estate agent, Kathy Wall, has been a Realtor for 24 years with a focus on residential properties in San Francisco and San Mateo County, but made it clear that her favorite place to sell homes is here in Brisbane. Kathy opened the interview saying, “I love Brisbane, this is my home. I am passionate and involved in this tight-knit community that cares about each other. I love the walkability of this town and safety of living in Brisbane. That’s why,17 years ago, I moved to Brisbane, to live on the base of San Bruno Mountain next to the San Francisco Bay.”
I asked Kathy about her decision to partner with her son Michael Darling and why she chose to work with Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Home Services California Realty. She continued speaking about their decision to be a part of the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. because of its culture, central location in San Bruno and team of 85 agents. She explained how being a part of Berkshire Hathaway brings value to individuals who use her services. I asked her to expand on this comment. “Being a part of this vibrant office gives me local, national and international marketing tools; resources to locate property here as well as anywhere in the world.” Kathy continued, “with data, knowledge and resources I can provide expert advice to customers selling or buying a home.” Speaking about the marketing tools and the importance of showcasing homes, we discussed how Berkshire Hathaway Inc. offers services that no other real estate company in the Bay Area offers, including PruTV at her office. We spoke about the being a successful realtor today, means being up-to-date on the ever changing world of technology, while having information and knowledge of local and world-wide communities, especially as people move here from the U.S.A., Europe and Asia. Kathy said, “When a seller hires me, their home is placed on the world-wide web with the prices translated instantly into the country’s currency where the prospective buyer is located.” She ended saying, “I can’t rely on what worked in the past on advising sellers on marketing their homes, I have to keep up with current trends and technology i.e. e-mail, phone, mail, SnapChat, Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, and/or Instagram when showcasing homes. Being a part of Berkshire Hathaway gives me a bigger foot print to sell homes and find homes for buyers.”
Being green is important to Kathy. We spoke about how for the past 10 years, her office in San Bruno holds a paper shredding party with free BBQ hot dogs, popcorn, etc in their back-parking lot for the community to bring confidential documents and watch them shred. Kathy spoke about how amazing it is to stand and watch paper being shredded into a million pieces right before your very eyes. She ended saying, “This is invaluable, helping others to protect their identity, recycle, being green all while decluttering your home! It’s definitely a win-win!”
