Family owned restaurant, Mama Mia Pizza, has been providing businesses and residents tasty, fresh and delicious home style Italian food for more than 5 years. Mama Mia is owned by Brazilian-trained DaSilva brothers Chef Marcos and Chef Rogerio and his wife Livia and of course, the children Marcos Patrick and Ronas Christopher. Chef Marcos opened the interview by speaking about their hand-made and hand-tossed pizza dough that melts on your tongue. He stated “hand-tossing our dough provides a non-uniform crumb, this means each and every pizza crust provides a fresh and new experience for our customer. The crust is tender in some spots and crisp in others. We make the pizza dough from scratch, it’s a secret family recipe.” He continued, “We purchase our vegetables daily at the farmers market. We take pride in creating fresh and tasty food with friendly service and a smile to our customers.”
We spoke about the menu choices offered at the pizzeria. Chef Marcos said, “Our signature pizzas include pepperoni, sausage, vegetarian, Hawaiian and more. Our family motto is service with a smile, which is remembered.” Continuing he pointed to the menu and said, “we offer more than Pizza. In addition to the traditional red sauce pie, we offer tried and true favorites that include burgers, sub sandwiches, salads, wings, seafood, pastas and of course calzones, toasted ravioli and calamari.”
Mama Mia Pizza is centrally located in downtown Brisbane. It offers a casual dining area in the front and a spacious patio in the rear protected from the wind with lots of shade and sunshine depending on the customer’s mood. The outdoor patio area is a welcoming venue for community groups to meet, Chamber mixers, holiday events, celebrations, birthday parties and team gatherings. He emphasized, “Our motto is to provide top-notch customer service along with a quality meal. Our patio offers privacy for people to conduct meetings and celebrate. It is the community patio a great place for fun, conversation and relaxing. People like to eat and meet here because of the food, the service, and smiles.”
We spoke about Brisbane being a jewel located on the peninsula next to San Francisco, Daly City, Colma and South San Francisco. Chef Marcos said, “Being located in Brisbane is an asset because of the weather, the people, the mountain and transportation hub. This is good for us because our delivery radius is approximately four miles.” He continued, “Our customers like our casual fast eatery because when they want a tasty pizza at the office or at home they have a choice of sit down, take out and/or delivery. Our pizza and menu items are created and served fresh and delicious.”
We then switched topics and spoke about dreams and business plans. I asked him to speak about what has changed in the five years since the pizza restaurant first opened. Chef Marcos, replied, “When we purchased Mama Mia Pizza it was a dream come true. We are so grateful for our new and returning customers who come in for a taste, return and encourage us, saying how much they like our high quality, good value food. A year ago, after a family meeting, we decided we wanted to open a second Mama Mia Pizza on Mission Street in San Francisco. Our menu choices are the same, with the main difference we have a large comfy dining area for our customers to sit and enjoy a home cooked meal, with of course a delivery option.”
Customers have several options to order food. You can check out Mama Mia Pizza menu selections at www.mamamiapizzas.com or on-site. When placing an order, you have the option of calling directly at (415) 468-1032 or placing your order on their website or using one of the online ordering hosts. Ending, he said, “We at Mama Mia Pizza are pleased to be part of such a wonderful community and look forward to building our business as well as building relations with community members and businesses.” Please stop by, say hi, pick up a menu and chat for a bit.
