Planning Commission Recommends Approval of Parkside Plan
BY: Mayor LORI LIU, City of Brisbane, email@example.com
The City has been working the last two years to create the Parkside at Brisbane Village Precise Plan (Parkside Plan). The Parkside Plan area encompasses approximately 25 acres at the main entrance to Brisbane at Old County Road generally including Brisbane Village, the Community Park, and trade commercial sites along Park Lane and Park Place. The purpose of the Parkside Plan is to establish the community’s vision for the future of this area, including the possible future development of 228 residential units within this area as required by the Housing Element of the City’s General Plan. Future housing is accommodated through overlay zoning districts which allow property owners the flexibility of either maintaining their trade commercial uses or redevelop their properties with residential uses consistent with the Plan.
In creating this plan, city officials, landowners, community stakeholders and nearly 300 Brisbane residents actively engaged in the planning process through community events, workshops, public meetings, Citywide surveys, phone calls and emails. These efforts culminated in public hearings by the Brisbane Planning Commission, which at its August 22, 2017 meeting unanimously recommended that the City Council approve the Parkside Plan. The City Council is scheduled to review the Parkside Plan at a special meeting on October 16, 2017. Join at this meeting to learn more about this exciting community-driven plan which will shape the future of the entrance to our town. The Parkside Plan and supporting information can be found on the City’s web page at http://www.brisbaneca.org/parkside-plan-documents or at the Community Development Department at City Hall.
