“The stage is set for the Star City Music Festival to shine bigger and brighter in its second year! Musical artists include hip-hop showstopper Lyrics Born & his devastatingly funky band, bluegrass jam-band Poor Man’s Whiskey, guitar virtuoso Eric McFadden (P-Funk, the Animals), Allman Brothers Band tribute the Allmond Brothers, hot SF indie rockers Locus Pocus and the Star City Allstars featuring a host of stellar locals.
Mikel Ross runs Lucky Recording Company in Brisbane, and Jimmy Leslie is a resident who co-founded the Guitarfish Music Festival near Lake Tahoe, and works as the Frets Editor at Guitar Player magazine. Together as DreamStar West they are coordinating with the City of Brisbane’s Concerts in the Park series to make Star City Fest a fantastic finale to an epic summer season. The Star City Music Festival will remain a ticketed event that’s well worth the small price for bringing massive talent and top-shelf production to Community Park, and a portion of proceeds benefits San Bruno Mountain Watch. The gazebo setup courtesy of Brite Event Rentals houses exhibitions by innovative sponsors such as Sunset Scavenger, cool vendors such as McDermott Guitars and Mr. California, and information stations from participants including the Brisbane Library. A massive sound system provided by Brisbane newcomers PSAV Presentation Services is set up on an amazing stage in the southwest corner, making the mountain an awesome natural backdrop to a diverse range of performances. A second stage and lounge reside at the opposite end.
The Star City Music Festival is a family affair. Parking and children under ten get in free, and kids can release oodles of energy in bodacious bounce houses and on the modern playground. The Lions Club will serve barbeque, and a variety of food trucks ensure there’s something for every member of the family. Several bars serve craft beers by South SF’s 47 Hills Brewing Company.
Tiered levels of tax-deductible sponsorship are still available to businesses, and many vendor spots are open. Volunteers needed. Send an email to info@starcityfest.com. Lineup, tickets, photos, and social links can be found at www.starcityfest.com.
