EDUCATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE … BY: BRUCE BONAR, Brisbane Chamber of Commerce Board Chair, bruce@brisbanechamber.org, 415-467-7283 Spring is in full swing. I would like to start my column this month by saying Thank you to Sierra Point Yacht Club for providing a welcoming venue to Mitch Bull Retirement NETwork@NITE Party on April 17th. The tasty food was catered by Mangiare SF. Chamber members, friends, and businesses mingled and said farewell and best wishes to our former president/CEO Mitch Bull. Thank You to Lyon Medical Construction, SSF Scavenger Company, Inc., and Jason Cranston, CBRE for sponsoring this event. We all had a grand time. Please mark your calendar for May 22nd Students in Business Luncheon. Brisbane 8th graders will have the unique opportunity to present to their peers and attendees what they learned and experienced at each company. We couldn’t do this without the participation and generosity of our businesses and the great teachers at Lipman Middle School. If you would like to host a small group of eighth graders, please contact president/CEO Madison Davis call (415) 467-7283 at madison@brisbanechamber.org or. Have you donated to the High School Education fund? There is still time for you to contribute to the scholarship fund. Working together we can make the dream of college a reality. The best investment in our society is how we mold and shape our youth. The Chamber is accepting contributions for these scholarship awards. If you would like to help, please make your donation payable to the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund at: Brisbane Chamber of Commerce, attn.: Scholarship Fund, 50 Park Place, Brisbane, CA 94005 or donate on-line at https://scholarshipdonation.eventbrite.com. Every dollar contributed goes directly to a worthy student. The Excellence in Education Scholarship Reception is slated for June where the top 5th and 8th grade students, teacher of the year plus the high school scholarship recipients will receive scholarships donated by the business and residents of Brisbane. For questions on donating, please contact president/CEO Madison Davis at madison@brisbanechamber.org or call (415) 467-7283. Get on your Bike… the annual Bike to Work day is right around the corner!! A vibrant community has to have a balanced and vibrant business sector to ensure stable revenue for the community, and to be good corporate citizens who help to create an environment where we all can benefit. Please remember to shop local when you can and support the brands and businesses that we have as friends and neighbors. We are interested in ideas of what you would like to see in future issues of the Luminary and want to hear your thoughts.
