Submit Questions for the Candidates
September 18 - October 7
Every city council election year, the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce partners with the League of Women Voters to host a Candidates Forum. The forum allows the candidates running for city council to make a statement to voters, gives an opportunity for the community to ask questions, and concludes with a closing statement from each candidate. This is one of the best ways to gauge which candidates align with your values so you can make an informed decision while filling out your ballot. This year there are 5 candidates running for 3 spots.
During normal circumstances, the Chamber hosts the event at City Hall. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, this year we will be taking the event virtual with technical assistance provided by the City of Brisbane. In doing so, we ask you submit questions in advance in order create a smoother virtual experience for our candidates and moderators. The League will be collecting questions through a google form which you can fill out here. The moderator will sort the questions by subject and during the forum, will cover a variety of topics. Often, there isn’t time to ask all questions, so questions may be re-phrased or combined at times.
Questions will be collected until October 7th at 5pm and the identity of the respondents will remain confidential. The form is designed to collect one question at a time. Please make separate entries for each question you have.
The forum will take place on October 8th at 7pm and the deadline to submit questions is October 7th at 5pm. Community members may watch the forum on channel 27 or by tuning into the live broadcast on the City of Brisbane YouTube Channel
