As we see another year pass, what will we change this year? Will we make the same resolution list to brutally fail or will we decide to do something different? With the volatility of our markets and interest rates on the rise, are we ready for unexpected change? Do we have adequate savings? As our politicians continue to debate, we must make sure we are prepared when the music stops.
Start with looking at our spending. Make a budget of what we feel is necessary and eliminate services we don’t use. Look at what we spend our money on a daily basis and what we can cut to save. Maybe we should have coffee in the office more or bring lunch three times a week. Sometimes winning the little battles help and whatever decision we make, stick with it. Revisit our retirement contributions and maybe we can up the percentage by a percent or two. The more we save now, the easier it will be in the future. I’m not saying don’t splurge on a few items, we just need to be better at paying for them.
Thanks for reading and wishing everyone a wonderful 2019.
