How Can You Get Involved With Your Community?

By: Terry O’Connell, City of Brisbane Mayor, terryoconnell@ci.brisbane.ca.us

Start the New Year by giving back to your community, and apply to serve on one of Brisbane’s commissions or committees. It takes dedication and a commitment to others, and it is a very rewarding experience. The City is accepting applications that are open to all Brisbane residents, for the following commissions and committees. Join the conversation and apply.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the City Council on re-zonings and amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and the City’s General Plan. The Commission typically reviews and acts upon applications for Use Permits, Design Permits, Variances and Sign Permits. What direction do you think will be best for Brisbane and how can we get there?
Parks and Recreation Commission
The Parks and Recreation Commission provides advice to the City Council regarding the Parks &
Recreation Department by gathering opinions and assessing needs of all of our residents regarding recreational opportunities. Special projects, such as Day in the Park and the Festival of Lights make this commission a true labor of playfulness.
Complete Streets Safety Committee
The Complete Streets Safety Committee considers issues affecting pedestrians, bicyclists, and people with disabilities, motorists, movers of commercial goods, and users and operators of public transportation. How do you want to get from here to there?
Open Space and Ecology Committee
The Open Space and Ecology Committee works to make recommendations to the City Council on programs and policies of the Open Space and Conservation Elements of our General Plan. Think green, think sustainability, how can we make changes that matter?
Contact our City Clerk, Ingrid Padilla @ 415-508-2113 or send an email to cityclerk@ci.brisbane.ca.us for more information and an application. Apply and get involved! Application deadline is Wednesday, February 19th at 8pm.
