While meeting with Brisbane Realtors and residents Ron Davis, Michele Jauregui, and James Ball, I was struck with the symmetry, collaboration and teamwork they exhibit together. And they are passionate about Brisbane. Ron opened the interview, saying “We are products of this town. We live here, we are homeowners here, and we are the only real estate company located in town. Our core value is balancing work, family and our relationship as a team while providing the best possible service.”
When asked to speak about his brokerage Ron replied, “It’s about relationships: we carefully listen and do all we can to assist our clients in achieving their goals. Also, our team is unique both in our personal interests and in our investment in this community.” Ron has been an active community member for decades including serving on the Board of Directors of the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce. He was recognized in 1998 as Brisbane “Citizen of the Year”. And in 2008, Ron received the Lions Club International Melvin Jones Humanitarian Award for his contributions to Brisbane. James serves on the Altamar Homeowners Association Board of Directors, is a Brisbane Lions Club member, and a staunch advocate and frequent visitor of the
dog park with his dog Ella. Michele is active with the Silverspot Cooperative Nursery School and a committed soccer mom and coach. “With our combined nearly 50 years of real estate experience and extensive knowledge of Brisbane and our surrounding communities, we are able to offer personalized and knowledgeable service to buyers and sellers.”
I asked them why they chose to work in real estate. James opened the conversation saying, “After working for over 20 years as an accountant and manager at both non-profit and private organizations, I felt it was time for a major change. I was led to real estate after reflecting on my own home-buying experience 10 years earlier. As anyone who has been through this process can tell you, it can be an emotional and challenging experience in our market. I quickly realized that having the right person representing you was the absolute key to success in purchasing a home. I now carry that experience with me through the empathy that I feel for every client that I work with.” I asked why he chose Davis and Company to which he replied “After being awarded my license in May 2015, I met with Ron and quickly felt the synergy and teamwork environment that he championed in his brokerage. I am so grateful to have landed here. We actually are a team and that’s not just a tag line: it really does feel like family and we always have each other’s back.”
I turned to Michele and asked how she started her real estate career. “I obtained my license in 2007 which ended up being a less than an ideal time to break into the field.” However, the 2008 housing market crash didn’t discourage her. During her first six years Michele also worked full-time in accounting and finance for Anchor Brewing Company. She teamed up with Davis and Company immediately upon receiving her license. “There was never a question as to what brokerage I would end up at. Ron was the one who encouraged me, and ultimately the reason I got into real estate. What makes me happy and keeps me driven is simple: I am motivated by a desire to help people. Whether it’s helping buyers find their dream home or helping sellers make their next move.” In addition to her real estate career, Michele also has her hands full raising a four-year-old son with her with fiancé. “Juggling career with being a mom, I enjoy my family and personal time and am always looking for the next adventure.”
Speaking with Ron, I learned that he first moved to Brisbane 36 years ago after purchasing his first home. Shortly thereafter, he purchased a second home and rented out his first. Upon seeing his interest and natural inclination for real estate, a friend suggested that he consider a career in it. He took that advice and became a licensed real estate agent in 1987, followed in 1995 by obtaining his broker’s license and earning the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute designation. Ron also served on the San Mateo County Association of Realtor’s Legislative and Ethics Committee. When asked about opening his office in town Ron replied, “I purchased this building with the goal of opening a coffee house and renting the top floor. A friend encouraged me to consider locating my real estate company in the same building. Upon further reflection, I realized that this site was an ideal venue for an office, meeting place, and outdoor community space. I opened Madhouse Coffee and Davis and Company here to provide Brisbane with a meeting place to commune with friends and neighbors”
