By now I think we can all agree 2020 is not winning any awards for the “best year ever.” Which is why we could all use an extra dose of Christmas cheer this season. If you own a home or business on Visitacion, the Chamber, in partnership with G3, would like to encourage you to decorate this holiday season. We can also help you put up decorations outdoors. If you need assistance, simply email Sue Cochran at email@example.com to arrange.
If you do not have decorations, Billy at Brisbane Hardware and Supply has generously offered 10% off in stock Christmas decorations for current Brisbane Chamber of Commerce members. If you don’t see something to your taste, Billy can also order pieces for you, just inquire. In addition, G3 has a stockpile of decorations they are willing to let Visitacion businesses borrow (for outdoor use). Again, please email Sue if that is of interest. We’re encouraging those who want to participate to begin putting up their decorations right after Thanksgiving.
For all other streets, we would love to see you also get in the holiday spirit too! As a reminder, Brisbane is named the “City of Stars” after one of our oldest traditions, hanging lit wooden stars during this time of year. The Brisbane Chamber of Commerce began offering stars for free in the early 40’s to residents, and soon after the city became well-known for these decorations. Families used to visit Brisbane during the holidays just to see our hill covered in stars. Over the last few years we have noticed a decline in the amount of stars that grace San Bruno Mountain. This year, we are asking you to turn on your star if you have one already, and if you don’t, please email Alison Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (415) 640-9875 to get one. Stars can be made from 2ft-8ft (in full ft increment sizes). I own the 2ft size and rest it in my windowsill, a perfect solution for those who cannot affix a star to the outside of their home.
Stars are free thanks to Chamber member Bob Wilson who builds them for us, Golden State Lumber who provides the wood, and Brisbane Hardware and Supply who donates the hardware. While stars are free of charge, we ask that those who are able, consider making a donation to the Brisbane Chamber Scholarship Fund in lieu of payment. Both the star pickup and donation process are contactless.
